Do price increases drive you crazy? Do you hate the new year, new price debuacle?
Join my SCVMS webinar where Shannon Cameron, RVT, CVPM dives deep into why the 5% mark up isn't the fix.
Blanket price increases alone don’t guarantee profitability—especially when services are already underpriced. This discussion explores the limits of traditional pricing strategies like benchmarking, competition-based pricing, and guesswork, and why fear and outlier complaints often distort pricing decisions. Attendees will learn how data-driven, cost-plus pricing—grounded in hospital-specific labor, consumables, equipment, and overhead—creates sustainable margins. The session also covers loss leaders, efficiency gains, technology, and often-overlooked billable items to help practices understand what services truly cost and how to price them profitably in an inflationary environment.

Shannon Cameron is a pricing and profitability strategist with over 30 years of experience in the veterinary industry. She began her career as a kennel attendant, advanced into an assistant role, trained to become a credentialed veterinary technician and became a practice leader early in her career due to her natural leadership abilities. She is also a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager, giving her a firsthand understanding of both the clinical and business sides of veterinary medicine.
Shannon has a deep passion for helping privately owned veterinary practices succeed in an economy where larger entities often have the upper hand due to greater pricing power. She is dedicated to leveling the playing field by empowering independent practices with clarity, confidence, and financial understanding.
A strong believer in servant leadership, Shannon loves everything related to practice management—leveraging staff effectively, mentoring growth and development, and building hospital cultures that openly discuss basic financial information. She believes that when teams understand how their roles impact the hospital’s success, they become more engaged, empowered, and aligned in delivering exceptional care for clients and their furry companions.
Outside of work, Shannon loves the outdoors and currently lives in her dream home below a ski area in Idaho with her husband, two sons, a dog, and a cat. She especially enjoys hiking and snowshoeing in the mountains with her dog, Kota, and embraces the balance that mountain life brings.
