                        Today, as I entered the last year in my forties I walked to my local Starbucks to get my free birthday drink (my new fave iced pumpkin creme chai tea latte) and I took a good look at my surroundings.

I love living in Long Beach, there are so many wonderful things around us. We have more Buddhist temples than anywhere else in the area. We have a Fire station with a Batman symbol on their bench, as well as a Batman figurine on their roof. One of my neighbors decorated their orange tree with Christmas ornaments.

I thought a lot about my life, my family, my friends, my career, and the company that I built. I am thankful to have lived as long as I have and to have had such amazing experiences.

I know that I have been an authentic person, since before being authentic was cool. I`m fairly transparent and honest, especially in the way I treat others. I know that I`m a friendly person (I get that from my dad) and that I love people (also get that from my dad). I know that helping others brings me joy. I want to treat every day like it`s something special, and unique, just like me. 

Why am I telling you this?  Because being a good person has been my life`s work, not just being a veterinary professional (although they do go well together). Doing a good job and being honest is just something I do. 

For those of you who know me, know that I`m not being conceited and when I tell you this I`m not full of myself. 

I`m just happy with me (especially at 49 years old). 

I am proud of who I was yesterday, who I am today, and who I will be tomorrow.

                        Last week I gave the webinar "So, You want to be a CVPM?" And it was great!

I had a great audience and good questions. There are a lot of managers with the goal to become a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager and I wanted to help them.

The Veterinary hospital Managers Association has been focusing on practice management for over 40 years. They are the organization who supports and manages the CVPM certification. I have been a member since 2010.

                        In the veterinary profession, there is a group of people who do not get enough credit for all the work they do. I want to thank them because I know that we could not save as many animal lives without them.

                        Thank you Humane Society in Vero Beach FL! 

I had the opportunity to provide compassion fatigue training to their team virtually.

They`re a great group of people and participated very well during my presentation. 

Compassion fatigue has affected our industry significantly, people in the veterinary field care way too much, and it can affect us negatively.

Remember if you take your animals to the vet or if you ever go to a Humane Society or a shelter, be kind to the team members that work there. You don`t know what type of negative things they have been dealing with.

                        Today was a busy day! 

I drove to San Diego to do team training at Academy Animal Hospital in Solana Beach and then provided emotional intelligence training to the San Diego Veterinary Managers group! 

All of the managers and team members were so engaging and I enjoyed our interactions.

Training other veterinary professionals is one of my favorite things to do and I had a great day ☺️

                        Thank you Northwood Animal Hospital! 

I enjoyed spending time with their team yesterday providing the required California Harassment Prevention training. I got to meet Dude, one of their office cats, and Athena, one of the employee`s dog (who posed for us in the picture) 😄

Every two years employers with more than five employees in California are required to provide harassment prevention training to their team.

                        Last night I spoke to the Indus Veterinary group at their monthly meeting and I had a great time!

They are a great group of professionals and made my topic more lively and engaging. I also got to see a former employee from one of my hospitals! 

One total perk when speaking the group was the amazing Indian food! I highly recommend Diamond Palace in Diamond Bar.

They are a great team and we had so much fun!

Cats are not always easy to work with as any vet professional knows, and learning good handling techniques is so important. Since they are my favorite animals, it is my goal to provide training to hospitals when they want to be better ❤️

                        I have had my company for 5 years! I`m so proud of this accomplishment when some companies don`t make it a year.
Instagram will only let me put 50 pictures up I usually have a thousand of all of the training and all of the veterinary professionals I have connected with in the past 5 years. It`s been a great ride and I`m so excited for the next 5 years!

                        Early morning traveling for work on a Sunday is a little bit different. The TSA lines were really long and it was busier than my normal Monday morning flight.  Thank God for TSA pre✅! Our line was much quicker 

I love the fact that there is a piano in the airport as well. Maybe I will practice more at home and play something on it in the future lol. 

The next 3 days will be busy but I`m ready to work! ☺️

                        Like any other veterinary professional, I have to bring my pets in for their exams. 

Mo went for a weight check and Betsy went for her annual exam and vaccine booster.

Olie, the hospital`s office cat was trying to make friends with Mo in the lobby lol

The Cat Care Clinic has been my cat`s hospital since 2003 when I started working there. Even though I`m no longer the manager there, I still have a special connection with the hospital, their doctors, and the team. 

Dr Brown is amazing and I love working with her.

It`s going to be hard on us next year when We move and have to find a new doctor. Thankfully I`m in the veterinary field and I have connections lol.
